As I Live Dying

We decay the moment we are born in reverberation.

The rest of our lives are spent wasting away from the gift of energy that sparked us into being.

How do we come to terms with the notion that our lives are over before they started?

We survive by suspending disbelief; we live in lies we convince ourselves are facts:  Growing older creates wisdom, age brings respect, and the immortality of youth is folly.

In the end — as we face our beginning — we can never escape the truth that the essence of our lives is only a conveniently propagated lie in order to stave off the inevitable, unenviable, dying that arrests each of us back to the earth and into the sky.

We leave behind the echo of our effervescence.
